Periton Hill 2018

After Dunkery Beacon G/SC-001 on the morning of Thursday 28th June 2018, we drove the short distance across Exmoor to this summit, which we'd activated just once before, eight years earlier.

We parked in the woodland car park, from which it was a fairly short walk up hill on good paths through the trees.  This brought us out onto the summit ridge, and out of the trees, so suddenly we had fine views.  For this one, we both set up our preferred antennas and reverted to me operating on 20m CW, and Jimmy on 2m FM.

Again, the qualifications of the activation were secured easily, although we did dally in the lovely sunshine somewhat.  We were definitely feeling the fatigue of a good number of days on the road and on the hills!

Next up was a third Exmoor summit for the day - Selworthy Beacon G/SC-005.

The secluded trig point        Jimmy reckoned this was the actual true summit
